BUILT BY A MESS
GOD KEPT WORKING ON

Calvin with his wife and children in front of a church bulletin board

This wasn't built by a marriage expert. It was built by a mess God kept working on.

I grew up an only child, raised by a single mom who did her best in a hard situation — but I came out the other side with real authority issues that followed me into jobs, relationships, everywhere. I didn't know what love looked like when it cost something. I only knew how to want it.

Then God, in His way, put me in the deep end. I married another single mom — a woman with the patience of Job — and between us we had five kids. No slow ramp-up. Just immediate, daily proof of how selfish I actually was. That marriage didn't fix me. It exposed me. And it was the door to something better: a mentor, a man who'd walked a similar road, who didn't just tell me what love was — he showed me, and made me look at what I wasn't doing.

Years of getting that wrong, getting corrected, and slowly getting it a little more right taught me one thing: love isn't a feeling you manage. It's a death you choose, over and over, in moments nobody's watching. That's the only theology this app is built on. Ephesians 5:25 — Christ didn't love the church from a distance, He gave Himself up for her — isn't a verse I admired. It's the standard that found me and started rebuilding me.

LUV YOUR WIFE exists so other men don't have to stumble into this as blind as I did. Find the moment. Take it. Log what it cost you. Do that enough times and it stops being an act — it becomes who you are.

What this is not

This app trains sacrifice, not self-erasure, and it's never a scoreboard against your wife. If your home has real conflict or danger in it, an app isn't the answer — talk to a pastor, a licensed counselor, or contact emergency services if you or she is in danger.

The rank names and "die to self" language aren't a performance metric for earning God's love. You don't. This is a discipline tool, not salvation — you die, He lives through you, and what grows is fruit, not effort.
